Switch on when you need it
Online Store
A shop on your own website, selling the same things you sell everywhere else.
Still building. A shopper can pay with a gift card, their store credit or their points, buy a gift card, and have a refund sent back as credit where you allow it. A member's own price is not shown in the shop yet, a business order does not raise an invoice in your books, the day's local deliveries are listed but not planned into a driver's round, and there are no product reviews on a product page yet. What is listed below is what this part will do when it is finished.
“My website sends people to a shop that keeps its own product list, its own customers and its own stock count.”
Instead of: A shop platform that takes a cut of every sale and keeps your buyers as its own
The Online Store turns your website into a shop. A product is a shop window over something you already sell — a stock item, a service, a bundle — so there is one catalog, one price and one stock figure, rather than a second set that slowly drifts away from the first. Product and collection pages are themed by your site, a cart and a checkout take money through your own payment account, and every order lands on the customer's own record with the rest of their history. Stock comes off the same ledger the counter sells from, and the figures reach your books without anybody typing them twice.
What you get
- Products that are a shop window over what you already sell, never a second catalog that goes out of date
- Variants shown as size and color pickers, with combinations you have run out of switched off
- Alt text required on every picture, so a screen reader and a search engine both know what is there
- Collections picked by hand or built from a rule, worked out fresh every time a page is read
- Product, collection and search pages themed by your own site, on your own address
- Shop blocks you can drop onto any page of your site: a grid, one product, a collection, a search box
- Quantity breaks, a price list and scheduled reductions, all from the prices you already keep
- Stock shown as in stock, running low or sold out, with back-orders allowed product by product
- A cart and a checkout that take money through your own payment account, with no fee of ours on a sale
- Orders on the customer's own record, stock off the same ledger the counter sells from
- Pick, pack and ship with labels, tracking messages, pickup and returns
- Product listings, structured data, sitemap entries and social cards, so a product page can be found
Who tends to switch this on
- Businesses already selling in person who want the same things online without a second catalog
- Anybody paying a per-sale cut to a shop platform for using their own payment account
- Operators who want a buyer to be a customer record, not a stranger in somebody else's admin
