Point of Sale

A register that sells your own catalog, onto your own customer records.

Still building. The register sells, takes money every way a counter takes it — including a gift card, store credit and points — gives it back, and hands over a gift card, a membership or a package when one is sold. A bundle still rings up as one line rather than its parts, there is no barcode scanner, a reward somebody has earned cannot be typed in as a code at the till, and an approval or a locked code does not reach anybody's phone. What is listed below is what this part will do when it is finished.

“The till is its own little world, and I type the day's takings in again on Sunday.”

Instead of: A register that keeps its own customers and its own books

Point of Sale is a till for a counter, a shop, a market stall or a job site, selling the same catalog you quote from and landing every sale on the customer's own record. Open an order, ring things up with their choices, split it between people or fold two together, and take cash, a card on a reader, or a pay link sent by text. A drawer session is counted at the end of the shift, receipts print or go out by email, and the figures reach your books without anybody typing them twice.

What you get

  • A register for a counter or a tablet, and the same register in one column on a phone
  • Sells the catalog you already have: services, tiers, stock items, variants and bundles
  • Choices on an item — a size, a finish, extras — asked once and set up once for the whole workspace
  • Open orders you can name, park with a note, and pick up again later
  • Split an order by item, by quantity, or into one order per line, as many times as you need
  • Fold two orders into one when they turn out to be the same customer
  • Move an open order to another till
  • A customer attached to the sale, so it lands on their own record
  • A device paired to a register once, so a counter always knows which till it is
  • A setup checklist that will not let a register go live until what it needs is there
  • A searchable list of every control, in the same words as the tooltip on it
  • One way of adding an order up, used by the screen, the receipt and the reports alike

Who tends to switch this on

  • Anyone who takes money in person: a counter, a shop, a stall, a bay, a doorstep
  • Businesses already quoting and invoicing here who want walk-in sales in the same place
  • Owners who want the person at the till and the customer record to be the same system
